Etihad Airways Reservation Policy

Etihad Airways offers a flexible and comprehensive reservation policy designed to provide ease of booking, clarity around changes, and fair handling of cancellations. Whether you’re flying Economy or indulging in The Residence, the airline sets clear guidelines to ensure transparency for all passengers. Below is a breakdown of their key policies:

Booking and Payment

Etihad Airways allows customers to book flights in various cabin classes, including Economy, Business, First, and The Residence. Bookings must be confirmed by completing payment online, typically via debit/credit cards or other supported payment methods. The full fare must be paid at the time of booking, and bookings are subject to seat availability and applicable fare rules.

  • Bookable classes: Residence, First, Business, Economy.
  • Full payment required at time of booking.
  • Payment options: Debit/credit cards and other online methods.

Changes and Cancellations

Passengers can make changes to their reservations, but these are governed by fare rules and timing. Most bookings can be changed up to four days before departure, but fees may apply. For tickets involving multiple fare types, the most restrictive rule applies. Refund eligibility depends on the fare purchased, and cancellations must be done at least four hours before the flight to avoid no-show penalties.

  • Changes allowed up to 4 days before departure.
  • Fees and fare difference may apply.
  • Refunds subject to fare rules.
  • A no-show fee applies if not canceled at least 4 hours before the flight.

Guest Seat Bookings (Etihad Guest Miles)

Etihad Guest members booking with miles (Guest Seats) enjoy some flexibility but under specific conditions. Changes are permitted up to 7 days before departure with applicable fees, and cancellations made at least 24 hours before departure are eligible for a partial refund.

  • Changes are allowed up to 7 days before departure.
  • AED 100 change fee + fare difference (in miles).
  • Cancellations up to 1 day before: 75% miles refunded.
  • No refund if canceled within 24 hours of departure.

Exceptional Circumstances

In the case of the death of a passenger or an immediate family member, Etihad may waive change or cancellation fees. Official documentation (such as a death certificate) is required to process such exceptions.

  • Fee waivers granted in case of death.
  • Requires official documentation.

  • The fee is non-refundable.

24-Hour Cancellation Policy

If you’ve booked directly through Etihad’s website or app, you can cancel your flight within 24 hours without any penalty, if the departure is more than 24 hours away. This provides a risk-free booking window for passengers.
